          　　In 1958 a young man named Jerry Crew was on his way to work．Mr．Crew worked for the Wallace Construction(建筑)Company in California．He drove large construction equipment for the company．It had rained for the past several days and the area was very wet and muddy(泥濘的)．

          　　In 1967 a man named Roger Patterson used a small movie camera to take pictures of an ape-like creature moving from a clear area into a forest．Many people said this proved Bigfoot was real．
           

          　　In 2002 a man named Ray Wallace died of heart failure．He was the man who owned the Wallace Construction Company．Soon after his death, his family told reporters that Mr．Wallace had invented Bigfoot as a joke．They told how he had made huge feet out of wood and tied them to his shoes．They said Ray Wallace left the footprints that Jerry Crew found．
           

          　　The Wallace family said the joke became bigger and bigger and Ray Wallace just could not stop．He was having too much fun．For example, in 1967 he dressed his wife in a monkey suit with large feet．Ray Wallace and Roger Patterson filmed her walking into the woods．

          Why Are Some Kids Overweight?
           When asked why some kids were overweight, many kids said it was because overweight kids didn’t exercise enough or eat right. Others said that kids were overweight because fast food restaurants serve the wrong foods or it’s a problem of genes.
          How Are the Kids Trying to Lose Weight?
          Plenty of kids said they have tried to lose weight and they have been trying to do the following:

          ● eat healthy and exercise – 64%
          ● eat out less – 4%
          ● take medicine – 5%
          It’s great that kids are thinking about weight problems and are trying to solve them. It’s like putting together a difficult puzzle. Understanding that there’s a problem is one piece. Understanding what causes kids to be overweight is another. And knowing that eating healthy and exercising are the best ways to fix the problem is a very important piece.

          Alligators and crocodile also have   different ways of doing things. Alligators like freshwater. They sometimes   wander into salty seawater, but they don't stay in the water very long. The   salt can be bad for them. Alligators usually make their nests at the edge of   freshwater lakes, rivers, or swamps. They use grass and leaves to make their   nests. Crocodiles, on the other hand, usually build their nests in mud or   sand. Sometimes they construct these nests near salty water. The salty water doesn't   hurt them.
          Alligators and crocodiles do other things   differently, too. A mother alligator stays near her nest. When the eggs   hatch, she carries the babies to water. They may even ride around on her head   as she swims. They depend on her to help them stay safe. Crocodile babies   don't rely as much on their mothers.                The computer makes doing schoolwork easier for me than it was for my mom and dad. For example,

               For English class, we're reading The Outsiders, by S.E.Hinter. As a pre-reading assignment, my teacher
           asked us to research teenage groups on the Internet. I tried Google, Encarta, and Yahoo first, and finally 
          found an article on Time.com. 
               For a geography assignment on the United States, I used Encarta to learn about the Mississippi River. I
           needed to find out how deep the river is, how its widths and depths are different, what states it runs through,
           and what kind of fish live in it. I used the information to show how the geography of a country affects its
           economy. For example, the river's trade paths, the number offish caught in it, and the tourists it attracts 
          directly affect Southerners' jobs and incomes.
                I never go to the library to do research. It takes too much time. Since I live in New York City and both
           my parents work, getting to the library isn't always easy. For a big assignment or research project, I'd have 
          to stay at the library to read, or sign out whatever books or magazines I needed. Being able to find the
           information in my own living room makes everything a lot simpler. Online dictionaries and encyclopedias also
           save time. 
               Sometimes. I think the computer spoils my generation because it's so easy at least physically. But 
          computers are not like television, which does the thinking for you. You still have to use your mind. I prefer
           using a computer. Easy, fun, and fast.
